The Nothing

Pictured is a Black Milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum gaigeae) that I did a small photoshoot to prepare an ad to be posted on KingSnake.

I’m not happy with it.  This was the best of the whole shoot (granted, on a few shots) but there is no clarity.  Every shot was focused on his head, and not a single one was actually in focus on his head.

I’m going to be giving it another try today. The setup: little black milksnake on black granite.  Vivitar 3700 (sucks) on full power (only option) with Stofen, held directly overhead by hand.  My skyport reciever was dead, so I was using flash-sync with my on-camera flash.  Probaby just too much.  My skyports are charging right now, so I’ll be able to use them today.  Hopefully we’ll get some better results.

The focus still bothers me.  I’ll try switching up lenses some to see if I’m working with a camera issue, or a lens issue.  Surely hope its not the lens because I was using my new Sigma 28-105mm.  Also hope it’s not the camera… don’t want to be sending it out for repair…
