Managed to get the Skyport receiver working after a little abuse.
Today, as I mentioned yesterday, was another PDX Strobist meetup. The venue was Vegas Dance Lab with models provided by SugarQ Burlesque Troop. Needless to say, some good fun was had.
The above picture was one of the last of the day for me. I had my crappy Viv3700 high camera left with my DIY straw grid, and used someone else’s Sunpak behind the model for back/hair lighting. I did have to do a bit of brushing in post production because Daron (owner of the Sunpak managed to get in the way and in the shot…
For the most part I found myself rather frustrated through the day. I made use of all my lenses (Sigma 28-105, Sigma 70-210 and the kit Canon 17-55) and no matter what I found myself suffering soft focus. Tried a variety of focus points and f/stops, only to get more and more frustrated. I will be experimenting more to see if its just me, or if the camera is, infact, having issues. We’ll have to see how that goes.
The models, though, were excellent, and I learned a lot from them as well as the other photographers present. I did leave early for two reason - the focus frustrations, and I was starving.
More images from the shoot can be found on my Flickr and pBase pages.
